Sadly, getting your first headship isn't all about being the brightest and best. For most aspiring heads, it's a game that needs to be played strategically. You have to understand the rules, the obstacles, the strategies and how to partner with the right people. You need to be resilient, flexible, willing to be coached and prepared to spend a considerable amount of time to reach your goal.

My service ranges from a basic one hour conversation on how to play the game (including resume review), to providing coaching support, making connections, reviewing personal statements and practice interview sessions.

Looking for your next job? Timing is essential! Understand the steps necessary to plan your next move. I provide support to experienced teachers looking for their next position. This includes the pluses and minuses of location, type of school, likely career progression, and of course, the all important pay and benefits package.

Often, decisions have to be made quickly and sometimes at a hiring fair. You are exhausted but need to choose between schools. If you don't have a mentor to support you through these decisions quickly, I can provide you with guidance and questions that can help you come to what ultimately will be a life changing decision.

Thinking about teaching internationally? If you are adventurous, flexible, interested in living in places with different cultures, and a dedicated teacher with an openness to teaching diverse students, then international teaching can be incredibly rewarding, and a life changing experience.

Now, how to go about it? There are many established agencies that do a good job placing teachers internationally. The challenge is: which one(s) do you go with, how do you choose where to look, and how do you decide between schools once the offers come?

My service includes an initial hour-long consultation during which we discuss your hopes, expertise and experience, the different types of international schools, the challenges of working overseas, how to plan your search, and what agencies to use.  Additional consultations can be arranged to discuss specific schools and countries, pay and conditions, contracts etc.
