The work of a Head is stressful, and can be lonely. You need to be careful who you confide in. In general, this should not be someone in your school community or local area. The consequences of someone accidentally sharing your challenges or angst are not worth the risk.
I have a lifetime of leadership experiences, many in challenging situations and have met most of the challenges that confront heads of school. I am non-judgmental, and am likely to be able to share some insights that will help. Even for the wisest leader, it is often helpful to get a second opinion on the tricky stuff that can quickly become a minefield.
Expertise: if you are in your first few years of headship, it's likely you will meet a situation with a parent, student, teacher, board member etc. that you just don't know how best to handle. I may not always have the answer, but for most issues, I will have met the situation before and will be able to provide you with possible solutions with the utmost confidentiality.
I'm available by the hour, or for a longer contracted period of support.
Whether you are negotiating your first contract or renewing an existing one, many heads don't know if they're compensated well, don't realize what they should be expecting in a contract, and don’t know how to negotiate amiably but professionally with their Board.
I can provide a range of services from simple guidance as to what you should expect, to negotiating with the Board on your behalf.
Let's get started!
